Core Practice Area

Trust Administration & Estate Administration

The King Firm, PA assists clients with both trust administration and estate administration, including guidance for trustees and personal representatives, asset coordination, beneficiary issues, creditor concerns, homestead and real property matters, and the practical work required to carry an administration forward from start to finish.

Trust administration and estate administration are closely related, but not identical

Trust administration generally involves a trustee carrying out duties under the terms of a trust, while estate administration generally involves a personal representative carrying out duties in connection with a probate estate.

Guidance for trustees

Trustees are often expected to step into a role that carries real legal and practical responsibility. They may need to identify trust assets, interpret the trust terms, communicate with beneficiaries, evaluate distributions, manage trust property, and coordinate with financial institutions or other third parties.

Guidance for personal representatives and probate estate administration

Estate administration often begins with determining whether probate is required, what type of administration applies, and what role the personal representative will be expected to carry out.

When trust administration and probate estate administration overlap

In many matters, trust administration and estate administration are not entirely separate. A person may have had a revocable trust, but some assets may still require probate. A trustee may need to coordinate with a personal representative.

Asset coordination, property issues, and beneficiary concerns

Administration work often turns on practical issues involving property, account titling, beneficiary expectations, and document coordination.

Remote and in-person administration support

Many trustees, personal representatives, and beneficiaries do not live in the same city or even the same state. The firm works with administration clients both in person and remotely when appropriate.
